On this half day wine tour in the Swan Valley, we visit wineries that are all family owned, and have been hand-picked by us for their quality and historic contribution to the region (and their amazing wine, of course). The wineries we select can change daily to ensure that you get the best possible experience on each day, and at each winery. We take the time to discuss the wines - sometimes with the winemaker themselves – so you can get to know the locals and learn about the Swan Valley's history as Australia's second oldest wine growing region.

All wine tastings are included in your tour, including reserve and award winning wines, and you will have the chance to sample well over 30 wines - everything from a Verdelho to a Durif to a Muscat. Most of the wines you will try are produced small batch, so the only place you can find them is at the cellar door.

The afternoon is set at a relaxed pace so that we have plenty of time for questions and discussion, and you will also enjoy a delicious afternoon cheese platter to compliment your wine tasting at one of the wineries.

On any tour with Up Close and Local, you are guaranteed to taste some amazing wines and local produce - but this tour is about much more than that. It’s about getting to know the locals, hearing their stories and seeing first hand why each of these craft producers is so unique.

We start the day with a tasting paddle of five signature ciders at a craft cider house while enjoying views over the apple orchards; we then visit two fantastic wineries for extensive wine tastings (sampling some rare and hard-to-find varietals), explore like one of the locals with a walk through the vineyard and orchard, where you are invited to taste the most delicious seasonal fruit straight off the trees – making this a real farm to glass experience.

This is all thirsty work, so after some wine tastings, relax with a gourmet platter lunch with a selection of cheeses, meats, antipasto and some Italian specialties in a fabulous boutique winery setting - again with those amazing views!

And how do we round out the day? We head to Perth's only urban Whiskey distillery for a private behind scenes tour

This food tour is called 'Low and Slow' because that is the only way to get food to taste this good - cooked slowly for a long period of time. When so much love and dedication has gone into crafting the perfect piece of meat, why wouldn't you want to celebrate it?

On this food tour we will eat and drink our way around Perth on a progressive lunch, tasting delicious pit smoked Bar-b-q meats and sides from three very different kitchens as well as discovering some small bars around Perth.

All heavily influenced by a passion for traditional southern style smoking techniques, each chef adds his own 'flavour' and style by using local cuts of meat, a combination of beech, hickory and coal to impart unique flavours, a secret mix of spices and their own signature house-made sauces.

And - did you know that Perth has a chef that has a Bachelor of Barbeque Science and was trained in Kansas by the world’s most accomplished barbeque chef and pitmaster? You will get to meet him on this tour and hear how he uses his smoker to create those traditional flavours we all love.

American barbeque is a very casual style of eating (there are no white tablecloths here!) you will need to get stuck in with your hands, cover your ribs in sauce and make new friends as you bond over a 16-hour smoked brisket. And of course, no BBQ experience is complete without all the usual suspects such as glorious Mac n Cheese, hearty smoked baked beans and a generous side of southern hospitality.

Just as you start to feel like you are heading into a meat coma, we will stop in at one of Perth's best hidden small bars for a tasty cocktail before we continue on our way!

This is a small group guided walking tour covering approx 1.2km at a very leisurely pace, stopping in at roughly 5 venues along the way for food and/or drink tastings.
